EARLY COLLEGE ACADEMY

Do you have a student thinking about college? Why not start now?

WHAT IS THE EARLY COLLEGE ACADEMY?

The Early College Academy (ECA) is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for your student to complete college-level courses while in high school.

In collaboration with Victor Valley College (VVC), Hesperia High School (HHS) has designed this program to help HHS students get a head start on their college education by taking college classes during the regular school day.

The college classes are offered here at HHS for junior (11th grade) and senior (12th grade) students. The program is free with absolutely no cost to students. Most college credit earned through the program can be applied toward earning an AA/AS degree at VVC or be transferred to a university.

BENEFITS OF ECA

  • Students can take college classes at HHS during their school day

  • Free for students

  • College credit earned will apply towards earning an AA/AS degree at VVC

  • Gives students a head start on their college education

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Students who are/have:

  • Hardworking

  • Motivated to learn

  • Planning to attend college

  • GPA 2.4 and above

  • 16 years old by the start of the school year (August)

  • Good attendance and discipline

HOW CAN MY STUDENT APPLY?

Sophomores (10th grade) can apply to be a part of this program for their junior year by picking up an interest form in the Counseling Office. Forms are available in the spring of their 10th grade year.

The program is designed as a two-year program with students starting as juniors and continuing on into their senior year. We encourage students to apply during their sophomore year so they start the program their junior year.*

IS THERE A DEADLINE?

Please note that the interest form must be returned by the due date listed on the form. Forms can be picked up in the Counseling Office.
