I have always wanted to be in a position where I have the ability to be a positive influence on, and make an impact in the lives of those I work with. Upon completion of my undergraduate studies at San Diego State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration, I worked for a brief period with an organization that worked in conjunction with the San Diego County Juvenile Probation Department. Realizing that, although valuable and potentially very positive at times, my work within that organization was predominately on the "negative" aspects of these juvenile offender's lives. With that in mind, I decided to pursue a career that gave me the opportunity to reach a broader segment of the population, yet still be in a position to be a "change agent" in their lives. I returned to school and earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling, and after some time working as a Special Education Teacher, and Foster Care Social Worker, I began working as a School Counselor in 2004. In 2007 I became a Scorpion, and I look forward to many more years of helping our students realize and work towards their full potential!

I have worked in the HUSD for 10 years. This is my first year as a counselor and also my first year as a member of Hesperia High School's staff. I was previously an English and Journalism teacher at Sultana High School, where I additionally served as school newspaper adviser. I'm originally a product of the great state of Michigan, where I grew up and spent my first 25 years. I graduated form Central Michigan University with a BA in Journalism with a minor in English and earned my MA in Educational Counseling from Azusa Pacific University. I love and grew up rooting for all the Detroit sports teams, especially the Red Wings and Tigers. If either of those teams are playing in LA or Anaheim, you can bet I'm at the game rooting them on to victory! I love being a counselor because each day is challenging and interesting. Working with young people in this capacity is the most rewarding experience I've ever had. I'm proud to be a Scorpion and I believe we have an amazing staff and student body.
