The cost of ditch day

Seniors every year look forward to the special perks that come with being an upperclassman, especially senior ditch day. However, this year senior ditch day went from “day” to “days” and actually caused
the school to lose money.

People We Know

HUSD cancels pink slips

The word Relief is what almost every teacher repeated when they were informed about the cancelation of their pink slips. Earlier this year, the district had issued 20 pink slips to our teachers, and after a recent board meeting, all 20 were cancelled.

“I’m very excited to still have a job!,” said physical education teacher Tommy Montgomery.

A "Haunt"ing Performanace

Much of the talent show was what you would expect, acoustic guitars, break dancing, and small skits.  But to the shock and awe of many, the band Haunt, whose members include Michael Batista and Michael De La Torre, played a death metal cover, “Mass Hypnosis” by Sepultura.

“Haunt was the most original thing there,” said Steven Godinez.

Freshman Olympics

fresholyThe month of April is the month that each school participates in state testing.On the last day of testing, however, the freshman get a little break called the Freshman Olympics, where groups of freshman compete against each other for fun.

This year was the Olympics were held on April 21 in the Gym. They had chariot races, noodle fights, and eating contests.
